{June 7, 2013}   Into The Invisible

woodsmoonpinkmag
come with me
there
slip into the invisible
not too far from the riverbank
yet far from intrusion

nights are getting warmer now
there’s heat in my eyes
and recognition in yours,
as if you remembered something you’d previously forgotten

we can stay as long as you like
there in the invisible
no one will miss us,
not me
not you

because we blend into the background we do,
leftover dinner scraps thrown to the hounds,
’cause baby we’re the fodder that keeps it all going
pig slop thrown out the back door till the next time they are hungry

but we are hungry too

so meet me there
at the invisible
you can lay me down in a field of imagined magnolias
and remember how to breathe again

there
at that place we last saw heaven
there
where everything that’s me is just for you
as it should be
